About The Artist
Welcome to my studio everyone. My name is JD and I’m a pop-abstract realist painter working out of my Queens NY art studio.
I enjoy painting things I find beauty in, whether it be portraits, landscapes, or mixed media pieces. Here, you get a little bit of everything, but with my signature “disconnected” look, colors and feel!
MY MAIN GOAL IS TO FIND BEAUTY IN EVERTHING, IGNORING ALL THE NOISE AROUND US, AND HOPEFULLY FOSTER CREATIVITY IN THOSE WHO SEE MY WORK.
In addition to being an artist, I’ve taught thousands of clients across New York art classes, specializing in small groups but also one on one instruction. This has given me the most joy, especially seeing people discover a few found hobby or passion. Art is for everyone! Dont be afraid to pick up a brush, some paints, and doodle around. There are no rules, just fun.
What Inspires the artwork?
My inspiration comes from the world around me. Everyone has always told me to “find my style,” but I’ve completely enjoyed the journey up to this point. The evolution, and the experience.
I am to offer a space, a canvas, for you to have your visions come to life through me. Art is an experience of two people, the creator, and the visionary. Sometimes they’re the same person, but often its someone seeing a piece and giving it their own meaning.
How did you begin?
I started art after discovering an old Bob Ross painting kit my dad had in 2014. I had never really painted before, but loved drawing as a kid. Sadly, I stopped art all together very young, and only discovered it again later in life after going through some hard times, and trying to figure an outlet to express myself.
I started painting landscapes with the bob ross kit, following a long and making happy trees and happy clouds. Soon after, I started teaching art classes with Paint Nite, and then Muse paint bar after getting hooked on art.
Stepping into 2021 and beyond, I’d love to get into the latest in the art world scene, NFTs, as well as further my teaching to online students.
What kind of commission work do you do?
Currently im available for hire for Mural work locally (New York region), as well as commission paintings anywhere in the world, digital and canvas! NFT technology
The art world is changing. NFT, non fungible tokens, provide a new way for artists to sell their work – direct to consumers, with a layer of transparency and authenticity through the blockchain. I’ve been exploring this space for the last year, and have a few of my pieces listed on openseas. I hope as the world becomes more versed in this technology (and me too), we can see the full range of possibilities become unleashed.
We are already seeing it through digital art displays, interactive art exhibitions, and virtual reality. In the coming years, I will be focusing a large portion of my time on digital creation, and virtual reality art. The metaverse is upon us! Imagine being able to put on a VR headset and step into a gallery anywhere in the world, experiencing a full sensory experience. Or, the ability to have a digital piece on display in your home on a screen, with the authenticity code on the frame displayed for everyone to see you are the unique owner. Exciting time to be a creator.
